Li Shizhen (1518--1593), another name was Li Pinhu. He was from Hubei province. His father was a famous Chinese medicine doctor. He began his study with his father when he was a child.
He wrote one of the most important Chinese medicine books in history, the name of the book is Ben Can Gang Mu. It took him 27 years to finish the writing. In his book, he collected 1892 kind of medicine and corrected many mistakes to each medicine which made by other people before him. This book had been translated into different language after finishing writing. This book has great influence to later transitional Chinese medicine.
He had written some other Chinese medicine books as well.
